The Garrick presents - The Right Thing

The Right Thing was written by award-winning Pendle playwright John Turley and first premiered at the Muni Theatre in 2011, where it was very warmly received by local audiences.

Set in Nelson at the end of the Second World War, the men are returning home to the women who have had to learn to live without them.

As the play opens, Frank is due to be de-mobbed and is desperate to simply pick up the pieces of his old life. His wife, Alice, has worked as a weaver and looked after her father, but her life has been utterly transformed in unexpected ways.

The play takes the audience on a roller coaster of emotions as the couple struggle to put the war behind them and build a life for the future.

The Right Thing brings this period vividly to life with its wonderful mix of drama, humour - and even a medley of popular songs of the time.

The Courtyard Bistro is also open from 5.30pm for food and drinks, so why not enjoy some 'pre-theatre' dining?
